Don't advertise house parties
7 April 2011
Teenagers are being urged not to use social networking
sites to advertise private house parties.
The warning comes after police had to intervene at two
events in Norwich which attrached large numbers
of gatecrashers.
At one party in Sprowston more than 100 teenagers attended
a house party advertised on Facebook - many had not been officially
invited.
Police were called after complaints about noise and anti-social
behaviour.
Sgt Pete Scott from the Sprowston and Spixworth Safer
Neighbourhood Team said: "It's very easy for events advertised via
sites such as Facebook, Bebo and Twitter to get out of hand as many
people can view them.
"If you intend to have a party, make sure a responsible adult is
around to help out and invite your friends directly."
