When Police Officers are at work, in their police cars or on the streets, they use their radios and mobile phones to keep in touch with each other.

Sometimes an officer will need to spell a word over the phone. To make sure the person they are speaking to can hear each letter properly, the officer will use the Phonetic Alphabet. The Police, the Fire Service and the Ambulance Service all use the same Phonetic Alphabet.

The Phonetic Alphabet uses a word to describe each letter. For example, instead of spelling the word police, P. O. L. I. C. E, over the radio, an Officer would say:
Hal and Ali have worked out how to say their names using the Phonetic Alphabet.
How would you say your name using the Phonetic Alphabet?
All the words of the phonetic alphabet have been hidden in the grid below. They could read up, down, across or diagonally but always in a straight line. Press the Button below to print out the puzzle and see if you can find the words. When you find one, cross it out on the grid and also on the list on the right. Can you find them all?
