Police Constable Clare Baddeley is 24 years old and has been working for Norfolk Police for nearly a year.
Why did you become a Police Officer?
I used to work in an office which I enjoyed, but I get bored very easily and I wanted to do something more exciting. I also like to meet new people and I get to do that a lot as a Police Officer.
What do you do when you are at work?
Police Officers do lots of different things when they are at work. I work at the main police station in Norwich. When I am at the police station I spend my time making phone calls, speaking to people and using a computer.

If somebody needs my help in Norwich, I can be called out of the office at any time when I am at work. This means that I have to be ready to leave the office and go quickly to the place where I am needed.

I also spend a lot of my time out and about in Norwich 'on patrol'.
What does 'on patrol' mean?
'On patrol' means that I go out from the police station and walk or drive around Norwich. I do this to make sure people can see me. If people can see me they are less likely to try and break the law because they know I might catch them. I also get to meet people when I am on patrol. Sometimes the people I meet tell me things which will help me to do my job.
What happens if somebody needs your help?
When I am at work I have a special type of mobile phone which I have to listen to all of the time. If a person calls the police and asks for help, or tells us about something bad which is going on, I will be called on my phone and asked to go and find out what is happening.
What is special about your mobile phone?
My phone is special because as well as being able to use it like a normal phone I can hear what other Police Officers are being asked to do and what they are saying. This helps us all to do our jobs better.
Do Police Officers work at night time?
Yes, Police Officers work at night time as well as during the day. There are lots of Police Officers working in Norwich and all over Norfolk. We all take it in turns, which means that sometimes I work during the day and sometimes I work during the night.
What do you like best about being a Police Officer?
I like working with other Police Officers and being part of a team. I really enjoy getting out and meeting new people and I never have time to get bored.
