EMPLOYMENT
NEED TO KNOW MORE?
You can not legally be employed by an employer if you are under 13 years old. Once you reach the age of 13 you are allowed to do certain types of jobs on a part time basis.

There are rules about the number of hours you can work and the types of work you can do and these rules are different depending on whether you are 13 and 14 or 15 and 16 years old.

Basically, if you are 13 years old or over and want to work part-time before you finish Year 11, you need to get a work permit.
